Gus Christensen knows we need a solution, not more pollution and has been one of the leaders in the fight against the 91st St. Marine Waste Transfer Station. Gus is out there at dawn for every protest, leading the chants and helping to direct the civil disobedience actions.
On The Issues
Gus Christensen will demand that Roosevelt Island families get the representation and mass transit improvements they need and deserve. Gus understands the island’s elected officials need to work closely with the Governor’s office to ensure representative members are appointed to full terms on the RIOC Board.
Gus Christensen is a firm believer in marriage equality for all people. But he also believes that it should not be the singular focus of the movement for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) equality; more needs to be done to recognize and counteract the legacy of homophobia and transphobia.
Having grown up in a household with a strong mother and two sisters, Gus was taught to respect the rights of all women from a young age and has helped to shape his policy views. Gus believes that there is still important progress that needs to be made for women.
